Where is God leading you?
The God who raised Jesus Christ from the dead is the same God who delivered Israel out of Egypt and brought them on their way to the Promised Land. God has a habit, and a history, of being present with God’s people.
When the Israelites traveled through the wilderness, God led them as a pillar of smoke and cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
Scripture: Exodus 33:12-14 (NLT)
One day Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Take these people up to the Promised Land.’ But you haven’t told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, ‘I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.’ If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.” The Lord replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.”
Notice Moses’s requests of the Lord: Teach me your ways! Let me know you! Let me continue in your favor! Remember that we are your people!
What a bold prayer! When is the last time you prayed with such boldness? How are you doing at boldly following where God is leading you during this season of your life?
God responded by promising: “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” God is always with us. In every place, at every time. And not only that, the gift of God’s presence is rest. We can have peace because of the confidence that comes from knowing God is with us. Like a child who rests comfortably in his mother’s arms, we can rest as children in the powerful arms of our Lord.
Comforting God, when life is crazy, uncertain, or difficult, remind us of the one sure thing—that you are with us, always. Give us the courage to trust you and fall into your loving arms, relying on your mercy for us now and always. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
