Meet the Church
Like we mentioned before, we are a traditional church with a heart for Jesus. We are willing to be flexible and move as the Holy Spirit leads us. We do our best to not judge. We welcome all – no matter the baggage or circumstances. As the Bible says “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” – we all need forgiveness and we all need each other so that we can encourage one another towards faithfulness and loving actions.
What do we believe?
We are so glad you asked. It is so important that we uphold the truth of the Scripture and are faithful to live it out not just at church, but in our everyday life.
- We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error. The Bible is the measure of truth in all matters of faith and practice.
- We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- We believe that all people are born as sinners and unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy.
- We believe that salvation is by God alone, by faith alone, in Christ alone.
- We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and death paid the price for the sins of all who will trust in Him for salvation.
- We believe that God is gracious and faithful to His people, not just as individuals, but as families according to His covenant promises.
- We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells with God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Jesus Christ and follow Him.
- We believe that Jesus Christ will return to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.
- We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the lordship of Jesus Christ.
Meet the Pastor
Kevin McMullen is our pastor; he transferred to Mt. Tabor, on July 1, 2018 with his wife and three sons. He has been a full-time pastor for 5 years and has a long background in youth ministry, having been involved with Young Life since 1997, and serving as a Youth Pastor for a few years prior to being called to vocational ministry. Some things you quickly find out about Kevin is:
- He loves Jesus more than anything else in the world and is excited to tell you why.
- He likes being genuine and believes everyone is a child of God and should be treated the same.
- He loves Duke basketball and thinks March Madness is the most wonderful time of the year.
- He will volunteer to go on a mission trip whenever possible, and encourages his local church to volunteer whenever and wherever they can.
- He thinks we, as a society, should exchange Easter gifts instead of Christmas gifts- you should ask him about this one.
- His favorite verse is Romans 6:23 (although he has many other “favorite” verses).
